Sample audit

Last updated: 2026-05-15

We ran our methodology on ourselves. Here's what we found.

Most audit firms show you a sanitized client report. We're showing you our own self-audit because (a) we don't share client data without explicit permission, and (b) the most honest demo of our methodology is to apply it to Oppority itself.

Spoiler: we scored zero. We're a brand-new entity with no external citations. The point of this page is what the audit shows about the gaps and what we're doing about them — the same diagnosis you'd get for your own company.

Diagnosed gaps

Gap #1 — Total intent coverage absence

We are 0/N visible across every intent category tested: product-category, use-case, differentiator, comparison, pain-statement, category-discovery, industry-specific, role-persona. AI assistants do not yet associate Oppority with any of these buyer journeys, because we have not been around long enough to have built the citation pattern AI uses for category recall.

Gap #2 — Category-leader displacement

Profound is mentioned in 8 of 25 prompts at average position #2.8. They have built the pattern AI uses to recall an AI-search-visibility tool. To be recognized, we need to either earn placement on the same surfaces that surface them, or differentiate on a dimension AI values (price tier, service vs tool, methodology transparency).

Gap #3 — Citation surface absence

The most-cited domains for our category include tryprofound.com (competitor blog), seranking.com, rankability.com, evertune.ai, athenahq.ai (competitor blog), conductor.com, reddit.com, medium.com. We have content presence on none of them. This is the highest-leverage fixable gap — placing original content on these surfaces, especially comparison and methodology pieces, directly drives AI citation.

Gap #4 — Differentiator under-indexed

Our distinct positions (free-first audit, service-led model, SMB pricing, transparent methodology) do not surface in AI answers, including for prompts where they should be the obvious fit ("affordable AI search visibility tools under $200/month", "GEO consultants for SaaS companies"). The differentiation exists in the product but is not yet encoded in the citation surfaces AI reads from.

What we're doing about it

The same playbook we'd ship for any client in our shoes. Across the next 4–12 weeks — the timescale on which AI engines re-index citation surfaces:

  • Structured entity signals on every page so AI engines ingest us as a recognisable category entity, not loose marketing prose.
  • Comparison and methodology content targeting the buyer-intent prompts above — directly addressing the “alternatives to” and “how do I” queries that today return generic answers in our category.
  • Citation-surface placements on the high-authority directories and category surfaces that the audit identified as primary AI citation sources.
  • Original long-form content published where the AI engines actually look — the surfaces that show up repeatedly in citation maps for our category.
  • Genuinely helpful community engagement in places real buyers research before purchase.
  • Re-audit on a fixed monthly cadence on the same prompt set. Public results. Either the work moves the needle and we publish that, or it does not and we publish that too.

We're publishing the categories of work we're doing — not the specific surfaces or sequencing — because the value of an Oppority engagement is in the execution and the prioritisation, not in the abstract list of things to consider.
